Children must learn music themes first by singing the lyrics.
Once they know enough themes to become excited about classical music, they have the
foundation to understand relationships to history, literature, and the arts. They
will be able to understand music concepts and to listen, analyze and describe music,
including complete works.
In addition to the materials needed for the Basics, as you progress you will want:
Books with CDs
- Themes To Remember, Volume 2 (Reproducibles optional)
- Classical Karaoke for Kids (Reproducibles optional)
- Antonin Dvorak From the New World with Lyrics (Reproducibles in book)
Teacher's Guides
- Themes To Remember, Volume 1 Teacher's Guide
- Themes To Remember, Volume 2 Teacher's Guide
Optional
- CD -- Can You Name That Classical Tune?
- Booklet -- Portraits of the Music Masters
Teacher's Guides list music concepts that can be taught with each
selection and the National Standards that are addressed. You'll find ideas
for integration of history, literature, and the arts along with activities
that make music come alive.
